Dream Technology Tool - ACER Iconia

My dream technology tool is the ACER Iconia.

Tsunami in Japan

"According to public broadcaster NHK, some 430,000 people are living in emergency shelters or with relatives. Another 24,000 people are stranded, it said."

"While the official death toll rose to nearly 1,900, the discovery of the washed-up bodies and other reports of deaths suggest the true number is much higher. In Miyagi, the police chief has said 10,000 people are estimated to have died in his province alone."

"Friday's double tragedy has caused unimaginable deprivation for people of this industrialized country — Asia's richest — which hasn't seen such hardship since World War II. In many areas there is no running water, no power and four- to five-hour waits for gasoline. People are suppressing hunger with instant noodles or rice balls while dealing with the loss of loved ones and homes."

The tsunami in Japan was very devistating. It also effected big name companies like Toyota and Honda. Some Sony factories have been said to have been effected as well. It's very sad how many people are dead, homeless, and some not even found. It effects not only Japan, but the whole world. We get many of our resources from Japan.

"The impact that lack of electricity, damaged roads and railways and ruined plants would have on the world's third-largest economy helped drag down the share markets on Monday, the first business day since the disasters. The benchmark Nikkei 225 stock average fell 6.2 percent while the broader Topix index lost 7.5 percent."

The earthquake + tsunami effected many so many people's lives, the whole world, and the aftermath is devistating as well.. It's very sad to think about and to witness, and I just hope Japan's people are okay..

Paper Prototype Video

My group, Head Chix In Charge, recently videoed our paper prototype on our game, Food Frenzy. Marissa filmed, Summer talked and did the animations, and Kerri helped her. At first, Summer started to name our team members, but she forgot the rule about no last names and said our full names.. unfortunately, we had to start all over, but we found it funny. Then, at the very end of our video, she was telling about the game scene which is like Family Feud.. but, we called it Family Food; however, Summer said Family Feud. We had to try to hold our laughter back so we wouldn't mess the video up anymore, which was very hard.. and after, we were able to laugh as much as we wanted about it. We made mistakes, but other than that, our video turned out really good and we had fun doing it. Our paper prototype was good, and we were proud :)

Food Frenzy

The One Man Army.

Natalie's Team Page - One Man Army.

I visited my friend Natalie's team page, One Man Army.

I liked that they had a little bit of graphics, which made their page kind of more interesting than just being plain.

Their page could use more information, and maybe more graphics and colors.

I noticed how they had a picture of their answers to their questions, and it had graphics. That makes their information more interesting to the eye.

I didn't find anything to use on my own game, because their topic wasn't related to ours.

my thoughts on globaloria, snow, and its effect.

I feel that Globaloria has been a good experience so far. I enjoy playing games so learning how to make them has been interesting and fun. Working in flash was kind of hard at first, but once I learned, it has been enjoyable. Globaloria is a great experience, and I think I want a second year.

My group, The Head Chix In Charge, has chosen to make a game about healthy foods. It's a race, and the larger unhealthy kid is trying to collect healthy foods and avoid the unhealthy foods. If they collect enough healthy food, they reach the finish line. For reaching the finish line, they are rewarded with a game of Family Food (like Family Feud). They are then asked questions about food, and they can earn bonus time for the next race.

So far in Globaloria, we have worked in flash with tracing and making game clips, got in groups, made paper prototypes for our games, did surveys, blogged, had visitors, and learned many things we didn't know. We learned more about HTML codes.

THE SNOW <333

It has been great, because we all enjoy days off of school.. but it has made Globaloria a little harder because we have gotten behind. The snow though is beautiful, and fun to play in. It has helped some, because we need breaks sometimes, but it is taking time from our games and Globaloria plans.. other than that, I love snowwwwwww. :D

Favorite Technology Tools

I have to choose two favorite technology tools because I love them both, and its hard to choose an absolute favorite.

The first item is my iPod touch. I have it with me no matter where I am.. I can communicate with my friends on Facebook or with my free texting app, video chat, play games, surf the web, and do many other amazing things. Listening to music is also a big plus. I always have it near so I can listen to my favorite songs to suit my mood and tune things around me out. Also, I always have a camera at my finger tips. I can always capture my favorite memories. My iPod touch is definitely a wonderful device, and I love it.

The second item is my PS3. It is pretty much a computer, but it is much better for gaming. It also hold music, photos, and a web browser. I also get to play my favorite games such as Call of Duty: Black Ops, and UFC Undisputed 2010. These games are the two best games I own. I love them, and my PS3. It is extremely addicting, so I'm now a major gamer girl :)
